Garrison McMurtrey serves as the Ramsey County Commissioner for District 3, where he made history in February 2025 as the first Black man elected to a county board in Minnesota. He currently holds key leadership roles as the Chair of the Economic Growth and Community Investment Service Team Committee and Vice Chair of the Housing Redevelopment Authority, focusing on economic justice and affordable housing. A dedicated public servant with experience in the offices of U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar and Congresswoman Angie Craig, Garrison lives in Saint Paul with his wife, Senator Clare Oumou Verbeten, their son Leo, and goldendoodle, Honey.
